Nicole Kidman in Vanity Fair Channels Grace Kelly

A State of Grace

Vanity Fair was expecting to ride the wave of  the Grace Of Monaco film by featuring Nicole Kidman as Grace on its cover coinciding with the original release of the movie on November 27th.     On September 16 a  Grace of Monaco trailer was released but soon after it was pulled back and the new release date of March 14 was announced, leaving Vanity Fair with limited options as to its Cover/Feature Story.

The delay of the release of Grace of Monaco made Nicole Kidman not eligible for the 2013 Oscars but Vanity Fair managed to morph a story and keep Nicole on the cover, albeit less regal than originally envisioned.  This is how Vanity Fair presented their December issue:

“For more than two decades, Vanity Fair’s lens has captured the glory that is Nicole Kidman, featuring the actress on six covers and in four Hollywood portfolios. Dubbing her an “ingénue” in her first spotlight, the editors went on to anoint Kidman as the first wife of Hollywood, a lioness, a screen idol, and simply, a star. This month, “icon” seems an appropriate moniker as she appears on the cover for a seventh time, channeling Grace Kelly in advance of the forthcoming biopic on the enchanting Hollywood royal. As Kidman looks forward to her role of a lifetime, we look back at her enduring elegance.”
