Grace Kelly 1955 Cannes Film Festival

While 1954 was touted as the Year of Grace Kelly, nobody could have foreseen how 1955 would have shaped up.

Grace Kelly - 1955

On March 7th, 1955, Grace Kelly was suspended from her acting contract by MGM studio for refusing to make the film “Jeremy Rodock”.  Just a week before the March 30, 1955 Academy Awards Ceremonies, the studio lifted the suspension, partly to avoid the embarrassment if she were to win an Oscar that year (which Grace Kelly did win for Best Actress)

By the time the 8th Cannes Film Festival took place that year  (April 26 to May 10),  Grace Kelly was now part of the special USA delegation – and one of her promotional assignments consisted of a photo shoot at the Palace of Monaco with one of Europe’s most eligible bachelors, Prince Rainier III. (which she married a year later)

These are Grace Kelly images from the 1955 Cannes Film Festival, mostly thanks to photographer to the stars Edward Quinn
